During Paddle Jam we will attempt to set a new Guinness Book World Record for the largest floating Kayak Raft.
On Saturday April 6th, 2019 we attempt to set a World Record on the Apalachicola River and "raft up" over 3500+ kayaks.
The current Guinness World Record was set by One Square Mile of Hope (USA) in Inlet, New York, USA, on September 13, 2014 when 3150 kayaks and canoes rafted up together.
The event will take place at the confluence of the Apalachicola River and the Apalachicola Bay (1 mile from the Apalachicola High Bridge) Primary "Put-in," the launch location will be Battery Park Boat Ramp and if needed we will use other public landings and private marinas along the Apalachicola River. The Kayaks will gather and be linked by boaters arm in arm or paddle to paddle and assembled for 30 seconds. Additional "Put-in" locations will be spaced out at public landing and private marinas along the Apalachicola River.
Proceeds from the "Kayak Raft Up" event will go to helping “at risk” and low income children, youth and families in need through the Outdoor Outreach Ministries of FUMC of Apalachicola.
*Registration will be $35 on Saturday April 6, 2019.
